I'm not talking favorite MOVIE. I love some really wierd and hardcore stuff, but that's not what I'm not talking about. What movies genuinely make your heart and spirit feel good, and lift you up when you feel down?

Mine include....

Chariots of Fire

Man From Snowy River

Breaking Away

Babe (yes, about the pig - I cry when they take Fly's puppies everytime, but otherwise I love it)

Until September

“Breaking Away” makes me feel good especially when I see what bikes looked like in the 70s! They’ve come a long way in comfort and security (where the foot meets the pedal).

          “Shawshank Redemption”

“Being John Malkovich” made me feel good because it came out in a time when I was not expecting a thought-provoking mind-tripping genderbending movie. It was all so fluffy and predictable there for a while.

          “March of the Penguins”

“Baraka” and “Triplettes of Belleville” make me feel good because they are both visually stimulating and relaxing; no dialogue. You can just watch and unwind.

“Happy Feet” because I was blown away with what they can do with animation these days and that there was so much that both a child and adult could love.

and I used to LOVE love love Harold and Maude too, but I got sick of crying when he goes to the hospital and I came to resent Maude for ditching him like that! That didn't leave me feeling good.

I watched August Rush the other night and I must say it's one special movie. Especially if you are musically inclined.

The thing that hit home with me was the idea that the sounds of everyday, like a train moving on tracks, can be considered noise but if you really listen, it has a rhythmic quality. Like the young character in the movie, Evan (Freddie Highmore) says, "music, it's all around us, all you have to do is listen".

When I was a child, my mum would give out to me for tapping on the table on the train. I was responding to the rhythm of the tracks that I felt a compulsion to tap along with it but I wasn't aware that it was musical at the time.

Even the wind has an almost aural tonality too.

        Great movie.... :)

I loved August Rush... that movie is one of my favorites because it inspires me to be creative and to never give up on my dreams..

I LOVE LOVE LOVE music and I used to trip out on the sounds of the street and people walking in rhythm with the sounds. LOVE IT!!!

          Way to go man!

    Amelie
    Princess Bride
    Room with a View

And although The Big Lebowski isn't really a "feel good" movie, it always makes ME feel good. But maybe that's cuz I usually smoke out when I watch that one, LOL. :-P

I must agree with a couple already stated like Princess Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, and August Rush among others.

    Some others:

Penelope - I recently fell in love with this one, I could watch it over and over again
Knotting Hill - Me and my mom watch this one together definately a chick flick
Hairspray - Some reason it just always makes my mood better
Wizard of Oz - Enough said

Some of the ones that uplift me. :)
