yahweh's wife - well, i had to look that one up, and it's fascinating!

"....her worship by the women of Judah was condemned by Jeremiah, although those to whom he preached responded

"As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Yahweh, we are not going to listen to you. Instead, we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the Queen of Heaven and pour out libations to her, just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials, used to do in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. We used to have plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no misfortune. But from the time we stopped making offerings to the Queen of Heaven and pouring out libations to her, we have lacked everything and have perished by the sword and by famine" (Jeremiah 44:16-18).

From the ensuing verses (20-21) we learn that the practice was widespread and had official sanction by both "kings" and "officials". From other sources, we know that the image of Asherah was, at various times, worshiped in the Temple at Jerusalem along with Yahweh as well as at various shrines around the countryside. Her worship, especially by women, involved offering her both drink and food, the latter being cakes that were "marked with her image" (Jeremiah 44:19). But by the third century BCE, the Hebrews had come to view Yahweh as the only god and he eclipsed the other gods until they disappeared from view. In this process, the various names of El came to be thought of as referring to Yahweh, not his father, the other sons of El that survived were reduced to the stature of mere Angels, and Asherah disappeared from view.

booted by jealousy, looks like. no wonder godd's been screwy since then.

i'm reminded of a classic monty python line:

Is there someone else up there i can talk to???

I asked God questions and he answered me.. no really. I wanted to know why we are here. I got the answer...... "We are here to remember and re-create Who We Are." Life is an opportunity for you to know experimentally what you already know conceptually. You need to do nothing to do this. You need merely to remember what you already know and act on it."

The wars and all the sadness we've created not God. We with collective thought created this. God gives us freedom of life and look what we've done. I'm not a bible thumper .. in fact they don't like me I"m merely a person who lives with strong spiritula ways and have come to know God away from religious way.

Ok if it's people who have created the war and famine and pain etc, which we most obviosuly have. Then why is such negativity generally spread in god's name. And if he/she gives us freedom to make our own decisions and create the world we want to live in, then why couldn't he be a little more obvious in his guidance (the manual is way out of date). After all we are not that intelligent when it's all said and done

He/she has been more obvious in his guidence. He keeps telling us over and over we just choose not to hear him. We have so many forms which to choose from to remember all we know that could make life beautiful again. We already have the knowledge within us. Negaivity spread in God's name one of my opinions, is becasue it's easy to that simple. If you look in history you would see people have such a strong belife in God it was and is used by people of "power" to encourage an action.. hate, war and so on. One can examine the differnt bibles to find they were written to benefit the times.
Check out the book Conversation with God. by Neal Donald Walsh. It's great for many reasons. One that encouraged me to read it was that I didn't have to walk away from anything I belive in but take hold of anything within the book that would compliment who I am. So one doesn't change to fit. It's simple and beautiful all in aone.

Well, if I could ask a question of God, that is to say..I mean, to know for a fact that God is perceiving a query put to him by ME...a lot of questions would already be answered, wouldn't they?
Because really, we are free to ask God as many questions as we like...

A man asks God, "What is an eternity like?"
God responds, "My child, an eternity is merely a second to me."
The man then asks God, "How much is a billion dollars worth to you?"
God replies, "That is but a penny to me."
The man then queries, "God, if that is so, then can you give me a billion dollars as it is just a penny to you?"
God answers, "But of course my child. Just give me one second."

        god speaks to a man;

god: My child, I will grand you one wish... tell me your heart.

man: Well... I would want something that would be useful for all humanity... I would not want to be selfish. hmmm... build a bridge from here to the Asian continent to unite the world.

god: my child, do you know how dificult that would be?? Do you know what a massive undertaking that you ask for??

man: oh, sorry... well... perhaps I didn't think it through carefully enouch... hmmmmm... OK, for the sake of all men, explain to me the mind of woman...

god: uh, ok... about that bridge...
